Macarons

Meet the Owner

Hailing from Koudougou, Burkina Faso, Patrick immigrated to New York in 1994 and has been a Brooklyn resident ever since. Despite the obstacles of adjusting to a new city and country, Yameogo persevered, earning a living as a bike messenger and then eventually a truck driver.

Due to societal norms back home Patrick wasn’t able to spend much time in the kitchen and actually took to cooking initially out of fast food fatigue while living in the US. Turning to Channel 13’s America's Test Kitchen, Patrick quickly learned that cooking was a universal language as the show helped him hone his skills.

Getting fresh foods from local markets, Patrick quickly developed a love for cooking and realized he had a talent for it when friends he invited over for dinner continuously spoke highly of the various dishes he’d make for them, even asking for advice on how to prepare them.

Eventually, in 2020 Patrick decided he wanted to realize his dream of becoming his own boss, while also bringing something new to his local community in Brooklyn.

From this came Macaron Coffee Bar, offering hearty breakfast dishes, sandwiches, and of course, the staple sweet meringue-based confection made with egg whites and almond flour known as Macarons.
